Created by video game developer, the Mac Pro Trash icon’s pretty easy to install. Just do this: 1) Download the icon 2) Navigate to Machintosh HD > System > Library > CoreServices > Dock 3) Right click and “Show Package Contents” 4) Click on Contents > Resources 5) Scroll down to find the files “trashempty.png”, “[email protected]”, etc and back them up. There should be 8. 6) Replace old icons with new ones, and delete the reflections. They aren’t needed. 7) Open Terminal.app and type “killall Dock”. You’re now stuffing your Mac’s virtual trash into the top of a $3,000 computer. Dear community, I have installed Wirecast and connected my AJA IO 4K to my MacPro (early 2013) using one Thunderbolt cable. In UFC Mode (AJA IO 4K Firmware), only two SDI inputs showed up in the AJA Multichannel Config Panel and in Wirecast. After installing the 4K firmware on the device, the 4 SDI Inputs are now up and running, but the SDI Monitor output of the AJA IO 4K (separate BNC connector) is not detected (the software says 'nothing found', I am using the German Version btw.). So I would be very thankful if you could talk me through the proper routing of the AJA IO 4K together with AJA drivers and Wirecast on a Mac. I want to use 4 SDI cameras (therefore 4 SDI inputs) and one PGM monitor (using the dedicated SDI output of the AJA IO 4K). Thank you so much! Welcome to this little guide showing you how to modify your Mac Pro to feature a transparent side panel. The inner layout of the Mac Pro is beautiful. ![]() Your help is very much appreciated! Best regards from Berlin! ![]() George Whittam Hey Craig, actually, the AJA didn't not work for me. As far as I understand, it 're-calculates' the (only) 4 available SDI inputs into one Thunderbolt signal, which needs to be 're-encoded' by Wirecast / the AJA driver. Download adobe premiere pro. This puts a lot of pressure on the Mac, so that my maxed out 2015 MacPro is at 80% idle with cameras attached. So I thought: why not separate the signals. I refunded the AJA and got myself 5 Blackmagic Mini Recorders and one Mini Monitor. They are very easy to configure and are immediately usable in Wirecast (the Mac has 6 Thunderbolt Ports so you can have 5 Cams + one PGM out for the audience). A slight delay is always in there (about 200ms from camera to PGM Monitor with over 50m SDI cable per way), but none of my clients ever noticed it (there are ways to delay audio & video if needed). Meanwhile the Mac sits at 25% idle, with all kinds of fancy Wirecast graphics and trickery applied. Even multiple streaming is possible. This setup is very easy to implement, can be scaled up or down and saved me a solid 1800€ (The AJA is about 2500€ in Germany, one of the Blackmagic Devices retails at about 110€). As as small business, I can only afford to invest in products that deliver 'costumer value' immediately. I do know about Tricasters, ATEMs and all the other broadcasting machines out there with all their benefits. But in my case, the client won´t notice whether I control via a Wirecast / BMD Setup or a SNG Truck (they´ll probably notice there´s no actual truck though:) ). I rather spend the saved money on things creatively beneficial. I hope I can help someone with my findings. Cheers from Berlin! CraigS Good point! So maybe it all comes down to the AJA Driver package? I forgot to mention above that I even had another AJA IO 4K for testing in order to see whether it was just my specific device that did not work. Different device, same situation. To be honest I stopped to investigate any further as soon as the BMD devices worked. If you theoretically need all the Thunderbolt Ports for Video IO, maybe you can use external USB drives for recording (I mainly use Samsung SSDs with USB 3 housing), SAN / NAS via ethernet also works great for me, using the two LAN ports of the Mac. Preparing all graphics as PNGs with Photoshop brought down the overall usage to about 18% which is the best result I can get I suppose. • Right-click on the text box. There are two ways you can handle this: you can either make the text box partially transparent or make it fully transparent. There may be times when you want the text box to be transparent, meaning that whatever is behind the text box shows through. To control the transparency, follow these steps: • Place your text box, as normal. Word for mac format text box layout behind text. I am very happy with the setup now, performed a 3-hour Facebook Live Show with 5 cameras yesterday. In my humble opinion, Wirecast (the 900 USD Version) with BMD Ultrastudio Mini devices is the best bet if one is on a budget but in need of a 'big' setup. George Whittam CraigS Hey George, unfortunately, I cannot give you any insight on that question since I am only using a MacPro (2013, now 2015 model). I do have to say that Wirecast is kind of heavy on the machine if you use its full potential. In reference to what I mentioned above: in those scenarios I am just connecting 4 cameras and one monitor, load the show´s Intro / Outro, one media file to be played in between and about 12 lower-third titles (video is animation codec with alpha channel, titles are PNGs). The sound is mixed via a Soundcraft Vi or a Behringer X32 on smaller gigs and feeds into Wirecast via USB (CoreAudio, unfortunately only 2/2 Channel IO in Wirecast since the software does not support multichannel audio). I would call that a 'smaller setup', but still it gives me 25% idle usage, sometimes up to 50% when I am speeding things up in the live edit.
